Operational Website
Before you apply to any affiliate network, even if you are
primarily interested in email marketing, you will want to have an operational website that looks professional and has some
basic content on it.
Finding a topic or service to get started in is often a difficult task.
I find it's always best to start with what interests you or what you are most knowledgeable about. However, what you are most
knowledgeable in might not be your passion or vice versa. My advice is do the thing that most excites you. If you need
knowledge, go and find it by reading books or online articles. Learn as much as you can so you can become an expert.
Most affiliate companies will automatically decline your application
if you have pages that are "under construction" so you will want to delete or hide pages (remove them from
your navigation menu) until they are completed.
If you do not know how to create a website, that’s ok.
First you will need to select a hosting company.
When someone types in the web address you select for your website
(example: mywebsite.com), your hosting company responds by showing your website to the visitor.
All of the files (information) needed to display
your webpages are stored on the computer of your hosting company. Thanks to your hosting company, visitors will be able
to access your website 24/7 - 365 days a year.
You can expect to pay a monthly fee of around $8-$12
for your website to be hosted. If you are not an experienced web designer, a company like Yahoo or iPowerWeb can get you started with excellent tools that make web design a breeze.
